Grievance Procedures

State, Federal and Local Complaints We are all concerned about the abuses and conditions in which children are suffering at the hands of California and their political subdivisions, the county and their agencies. Santa Clara County's Juvenile Justice System is wrought with children abused while in custody. Key in assisting your children and family is documentation. Document. Document. Document. Notify the County Agency and all authorities in WRITING. Write them of the abuse to the children and your family. ? Making a phone call to the jail, the county, the state, the federal agencies, the social workers or probation officers will do NOTHING. Serve all complaint letters to them with a process server, a witness who can testify that they received them or by registered mail with a return receipt. You must keep a copy of the complaint in a secure file with your records, as the agency you are complaining about will lose your complaint. Make absolutely sure that the complaint is true and correct and that you keep any and all evidence. At some time in the future, you may need to provide this complaint and the evidence to an attorney as part of a civil or civil rights lawsuit. Good records are extremely important!!
